Homebrew Aerth

PLANETARY SYSTEM

pict

The heavenly bodies in the sky "close to Aerth" are numerous, a lone satellite and nine planets, many with their own orbiting satellites. Some of these may even harbor creatures and be accessible by various magical means.

Celene: Aerth's Moon — Orbiting Aerth every 30.007 days, it rotates at a leisurely pace of once every 94.3 days. Mostly rock and dust it is still geographically active with celenequakes occurring every few decades. Occasional meteor strikes along with its non-existent atmosphere and low gravity allows for interesting nighttime views for the keen-eyed.

Pel: Yellow dwarf star (G-type main-sequence) — The life-giving orb at the center of the Pelar system, it fuses hydrogen and helium for energy, and contains trace elements of carbon, neon and iron.

The mean distance from Aerth is roughly 156,000,000 km and light takes approximately 8 min 25 seconds to arrive.

pict

Pyremus — The closest planet to Pel, it orbits the star every 77 Aerth days, and is tidal locked all but stopping its rotation altogether, needing over 400 Aerth days to rotate once.

pict

Bereia — The second planet from Pel, it orbits the star every 232.3 Aerth days, but its day is longer than Aerth at a fraction over 30 hours.

The orb is hot, humid, and filled with mega-flora and mega-fauna as its low gravity, slow rotation and proximity to the star makes for an uncomfortable but lush environment.
